Waymo, owned by Alphabet, is investing $5 billion to scale its self-driving technology in the U.S. The new “generation 6” technology will be integrated into Geely Zeekr electric vehicles and can handle a wider range of weather conditions. Waymo’s commercial robotaxi service is currently available in select cities and has completed over 2 million trips. The investment will be used for scaling and adding the new technology to its fleet.
