A new study found that while self-driving cars are better than humans in some everyday driving tasks, they are not yet as good as humans when it comes to turning or driving in low light. The study analyzed accident data from both human-driven vehicles and advanced driving systems to determine the safety of AVs in different situations. Overall, AVs were found to be safer than human drivers, but there are still some situations where humans perform better.
