Did Carmakers Underestimate The Difficulty Of Autonomous Driving?

New research by the US’ Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has found that carmakers have “work to do” on partial driving automation systems, with only one out of 14 systems receiving an acceptable rating. This raises questions about the feasibility of fully autonomous driving in the near future, as recent events have shown setbacks in the development of this technology.
