Toronto-based self-driving startup Waabi announced a $200 million funding round led by Uber and Khosla Ventures, with new strategic investors including Nvidia, Volvo Group Venture Capital, Porsche Automobil Holding SE, Scania Invest, and Ingka Investments. The company plans to roll out generative AI-powered driverless trucks in 2025, initially in Texas. Waabi’s founder and CEO, Raquel Urtasun, previously led Uber’s self-driving division and believes their vehicles will reach Level 4 autonomy by 2025, on par with Waymo’s robotaxis. The company’s advancements are attributed to their new generative AI model.
