Scientists have developed an AI system that can control a 16-ton self-driving forest machine without human intervention. The system was trained in a simulated environment and successfully demonstrated its ability to navigate obstacles and follow a planned route in real-world tests. This is the first time that autonomous control of a complex machine like a forestry machine has been achieved using AI.
