FlowPilot is an autonomous driving assistance system developed by a group of engineers in India. It has gained global attention and sparked debate on the merits and safety risks of frugal innovation. The system can be operated with a laptop or mobile phone and is being tested by 2,000 volunteers worldwide. The engineers were inspired by George Hotz and his company Comma.ai, which is also working on self-driving cars. However, the success of these systems in countries with better traffic compliance raises questions about their effectiveness in India.
