SK Telecom, Korea’s largest mobile operator, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mars Auto, a local autonomous vehicle startup, to collaborate on advanced technology for self-driving trucks. The collaboration will involve collecting and analyzing data needed to develop the technology, with SKT providing improved connectivity based on its 5G networks and sharing AI-related technologies. Mars Auto’s AI software, Mars Pilot, will be trained using 100 million kilometers of accumulated road data aided by a real-time network provided by SKT. The partnership aims to create a safer, more efficient driverless service.
