Edge computing in telecom, often called MEC or Multi-Access Edge Computing, provides execution resources for applications with networking close to the end users. Edge Computing has been around for the last seven years, but it is now that the technology got its due armed with the arrival of 5G services. Edge computing has a vast applicability, even in futuristic scenarios such as autonomous vehicles and health monitors. In India, as 5G rollouts expanded and use cases of 5G were taken up urgently, so was the Edge’s application in various aspects of consumer and enterprise lives. Edge technology can help in real life scenarios such as autonomous vehicles and healthcare sensor devices.
