ChatGPT, DALL-E, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion and Bard are some of the AI tools that have been released in the past year, sparking debate over the possibilities of AI. Professor Stuart Russell of UC Berkeley discussed the potential of AI to reduce global inequality and fight climate change, as well as the fear of AI replacing jobs and the possibility of general purpose AI taking over the world. He believes that large language models like ChatGPT could move us closer to general purpose intelligence, and that it could have a positive impact on healthcare, education, entertainment and art. However, the safety of these models is unknown due to the lack of understanding of how they work.
