SiMa.ai, a 4-year-old semiconductor startup founded by Krishna Rangasayee, recently beat Nvidia in the MLPerf competition, conducted by MLCommons. SiMa.ai’s ML system-on-chip (SoC) platform beat Nvidia’s Jetson AGX Orin in the Closed Edge Power category, which is designed to allow products like robots and any device with a smart camera or sensor to perform data processing calculations locally without having to send the data to a server room far away. SiMa’s chip specialises in image classification capabilities and was built from the ground up to do this one thing effortlessly.
