Volkswagen is set to follow Tesla’s lead with a price drop for its flagship ID.3 electric car model. The new version of the car will go on sale from the end of March for just under 40,000 euros, a 3,000-euro markdown from the current price tag. This move is seen as a direct response to Tesla’s recent rounds of price-cutting, which has seen sales soar by more than 900 per cent in Germany in January. Despite Volkswagen being Europe’s leading e-car manufacturer in 2022, Tesla has been gaining ground in the electric car segment.
