Gen Collins, a senior military official, has predicted that robots may be fighting for the British Army on battlefields by 2030. Autonomous or semi-autonomous drones are already being used in warfare, and the conflict in Ukraine is likely to increase the pace of the science around fully autonomy. The use of robots in warfare has raised fears of a Hollywood-style Terminator scenario, but the technology is already in use and is likely to become more advanced in the near future.
