Sensor Cortek, a software company based in Ottawa, is using a car covered in sensors to help solve one of Canada’s biggest roadblocks to autonomous vehicle adoption: snow. The company’s chief operating officer and head of engineering, Fahed Hassanat, said that the worse the snowstorm, the better it is for their work. The sensors on the car are used to detect snow, rain, fog, and other weather conditions to help train self-driving vehicle software and algorithms.
