Google is hinting at a potential comeback for Google Glass, the augmented reality wearable that flopped commercially over a decade ago. This time, the magic ingredient could be Artificial Intelligence (AI). Project Astra, Google’s ambitious attempt at artificial general intelligence (AGI), combines the capabilities of Google’s existing large language model with natural language processing and real-time image recognition. Google’s higher-ups believe that Project Astra could be a perfect fit for wearables, with co-founder Sergey Brin calling it a “killer app” for AI wearables and Glass the “perfect hardware” for AGI.
