The metaverse is a combination of technologies such as augmented and virtual reality, IoT, and blockchain, which is set to revolutionize the way financial services organizations and other companies do business. It enables users to connect without barriers, making services and training more convenient, engaging, accessible and inclusive. Gartner predicts that 25% of people will spend at least an hour in the metaverse by 2026, and financial institutions are beginning to experiment with pilot programs. However, they must ensure that they have the right infrastructure and security protections in place to take full advantage of the metaverse.
