OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a generative AI chatbot, reached 1 million users in five days after its launch in 2022. This speaks to the attention being given to a new generation of chatbots that are able to have human-like conversations. ChatGPT has over 150 million unique users and hosted nearly 1.7 billion visits in November, making it one of the world’s top online destinations. The potential new use cases chatbots promise, despite privacy and security concerns, is driving the interest. Chatbots are based on a large language model, or LLM, a type of AI neural network that uses deep learning to work with an enormous set of data to perform a variety of natural language processing tasks.
