Australia is well-positioned to capitalize on the future influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on its economic prosperity, according to the CSIRO. Australia has not been a fast adopter of AI, but the country is catching up with other leading AI-adopting nations. Australia is third in the world per capita for AI research, and the country has been named an advanced manufacturing and robotics hub by the World Economic Forum. Additionally, the Australian Institute for Machine Learning has been ranked among the best in the world for machine learning research. Despite this, there is a lack of understanding of AI in the wider community.
