Big Data AI, which is used to personalize newsfeeds, recognize faces, and converse with us, is an ancient approach to artificial intelligence. It rose again in the 2010s due to the increase in computing power and the availability of large datasets. However, it relies on a type of inference known as induction, which is not a complete model of human thinking. AI scientists are not currently working on the other two types of inference, deduction and abduction, which are also necessary for truly human-level AI.
