The public sector is increasingly demanding tools that can apply artificial intelligence (AI) to government data, which poses significant challenges for federal chief information officers (CIOs), chief data officers (CDOs), and other IT stakeholders. This requires each data owner to have a data infrastructure appropriate for AI applications, however, many federal IT systems do not yet have that infrastructure. In two private webinars, the GeoTech Center explored the human capital and workforce challenges that are foundational to integrating humans into the AI and data management process. Key findings, to date, can be structured into four categories: data infrastructure, data governance, data access, and workforce.
