The Middle East, particularly the Gulf region, is becoming a major hub for the development of cloud technologies, 5G networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), and futuristic urban initiatives. Major technology corporations such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Cisco are investing in the region’s IT sector, with Microsoft creating its first cloud region in Israel and Amazon Web Services (AWS) opening data centers in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. Dubai has also launched its own e-government initiatives, such as the Dubai Data Initiative, the Dubai Blockchain Strategy, the Dubai AI Roadmap, and the Dubai Paperless Strategy.
