Apple is expanding its expertise in generative AI to adapt it for iPhones and iPads. The company is hiring for dozens of roles across offices in California, Seattle, Paris and Beijing to work on large language models (LLMs). Apple is looking to bring cutting-edge technologies like LLMs specifically to mobile, which remains a huge technical challenge. Apple CEO Tim Cook has called AI and machine learning “core, fundamental technologies” and the company is investing heavily in generative AI over the coming months.
