Agile Justin is a humanoid robot developed by the DLR Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics in Oberpfaffenhofen. It recently demonstrated its skills at the automatica trade fair, using new methods of adaptive artificial intelligence. This allowed Justin to rotate and manipulate objects without vision inputs and with an open hand. The robot learned what was correct or incorrect completely on its own, using deep reinforcement learning. Additionally, Justin was able to grasp arbitrary objects with its multi-fingered hands, using 50,000 examples to teach the robot how to identify objects.
