Nvidia recently acquired OmniML, an AI startup whose software allows machine learning models to be compact enough to run on devices rather than needing the cloud. This acquisition could suggest that Nvidia is pursuing improvements for their AI chips, which could be used for industrial robots, drones, cars and other robotic applications. OmniML technology could also be used to shrink the AI involved with chatbots so they don’t need data centers. This could help to improve semi-autonomous vehicles’ performance and redefine computer vision uses beyond shipping revenue possibilities.
