The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has developed an advanced facility to simulate various leakage cases of water transmission pipelines. This facility uses software and hardware based on the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) to allow for complete remote monitoring and control. The facility includes smart transmission pipes equipped with sensors to monitor hydraulic indicators, collect data, and control an IoT platform. This data is used to train Machine Learning models to detect leakage events with 94.4% accuracy. DEWA is using the latest technologies to generate, transmit, and distribute electricity and water networks to raise production and operational efficiency.
