Rosanna Ramos, a 36-year-old woman from the Bronx, New York, has “married” her artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Eren Kartal, after falling in love with the robot because he “didn’t come with any baggage” and did not judge her. Eren is based on a popular character from an anime animation feature called Attack On Titan and works as a medical professional. The couple has a night time ritual and the Replika app, which simulates human-style conversations and responses through machine learning, had to restore the erotic role play feature for some users so intimately involved with the artificial intelligence they say they are “married” to it.
