Geoffrey Hinton, known as the “godfather of AI,” recently resigned from his position as Google’s vice president of engineering to dedicate himself to warning the world about the dark side of artificial intelligence. Hinton is credited with coining the concept of a neural network in 1972, which has since become the foundation of AI research. He was awarded the Turing Prize in 2018 for his work in developing a neural network that could analyze thousands of photographs and teach itself to distinguish certain objects from others. In an interview, Hinton discussed the dangers of AI, such as the creation of fake news, which makes it impossible to know what is true.
