Ai Chatbots Can Diagnose Medical Conditions At Home. How Good Are They?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbots such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s Bing and Google’s Med-PaLM are being used by people to self-diagnose medical symptoms. Initial tests suggest these AI programs are more accurate than a Google search and some researchers predict that within the year, a major medical center will announce a collaboration using LLM chatbots to interact with patients and diagnose disease. However, there are concerns about the accuracy of the information they give people, threats to privacy and racial and gender bias.
