Today, the response times of cyber defenders are orders of magnitude faster than they were 20 years ago, but so are the actions of cyberattackers. Automation has become an arms race between cyber defenders and threat actors, with whoever being faster usually winning. The Verizon 2023 Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) has found that most attacks are heavily automated.
