Europe needs to invest more in defense technology, including robotics, hardware and artificial intelligence, to protect itself from external threats, according to Florian Seibel, the CEO of German drone startup Quantum Systems. EU regulations have held back the continent from developing more advanced systems, allowing it to fall behind countries such as China, and should be revised. At the Bloomberg Technology Summit in London, Seibel urged for immediate action to prevent kids from fighting Chinese war robots. The summit discussed topics such as artificial intelligence, clean technology, the chip industry, and tech policy. Meanwhile, Deliveroo CEO Will Shu reported that the British online food-delivery company is receiving 10,000 job applications a week in the UK and is committed to staying in the country.
