This article discusses the need for Pakistan to transition to a knowledge economy in order to achieve sustainable socio-economic development. It outlines a comprehensive plan involving Science, Technology, Innovation, and Production (STIP) as the key pillars, and suggests that a national STIP policy should be developed through comprehensive consultations with all stakeholders. Additionally, Foresight Technology Assessment and Forecasting Performance (TAFP) organizations should be established, and world-class STIP policy research institutes should be established to foster evidence-based policy research and science advisory functions.
