Five hospital supply chain leaders discussed their vision of the field in 50 years and the technologies that are here to stay. They predict that hospital supply chains will be much more integrated, both internally and externally, and will leverage automation well beyond what is seen today. They envision fully automated ordering and replenishment for supplies across all departments, as well as AI-driven clinical interpretations to help quickly respond to supply needs. Advanced automation and predictive analytics will enhance the availability of critical medical supplies, while 3D printing and drone delivery will change the field.
