Hippocratic AI is a healthcare-focused large language model company founded by Munjal Shah, a multi-time AI founder. The startup recently emerged from stealth with $50 million in seed funding from General Catalyst and Andreessen Horowitz. Hippocratic AI tested its large language model against 114 different healthcare certifications, 105 of which its model outperformed OpenAI’s GPT-4 on. The company uses healthcare professionals rather than the general public when training its models with reinforcement learning from human feedback, and plans to ship its AI model role-by-role only when the majority of healthcare professionals in each specialty believe it’s safe enough to release.
