ChatGPT is a product of OpenAI, a type of AI deep learning model which has evolved to create powerful models such as ChatGPT. It has greatly improved the number of tokens it can accept, allowing the model to effectively “remember” about the current conversation and inform subsequent responses in context from previous question-answer pairs. ChatGPT was trained on a much larger dataset than its predecessor, with 175 billion parameters. This allows users to query a wide range of information through its conversational interface. Other labs are also developing their own generative AI models, with some emerging from partnerships between players such as Microsoft and Amazon.
