Keeping Humans In The Loop Is Not Enough To Make Ai Safe For Nuclear Weapons

The United States and the United Kingdom have committed to keeping humans in the decision-making loop when it comes to AI systems, however this may not be enough to make them safe. Deep learning and automation are playing a role in deterrence and command-and-control systems, but advanced AI would take automation to the next level. Machine learning, a subset of AI, is able to solve problems or perform functions that traditionally required human levels of cognition.
