Augmented intelligence (AI) is being used in the medical field to enhance patient care and address gaps in communication and education. A recent study implemented a human-in-the-loop AI avatar chatbot for patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) and found it to be feasible and usable. However, ethical concerns arise when considering full replacement of human care with AI, highlighting the need for a human-in-the-loop approach.
